BNU 0 - Marist 0
After some promising displays in pre-season, we looked forward to our first game of the season with fervour. The fact that it was against Marist and our good old mate Brian Blellock (not sure of spelling sorry) was just the tonic we needed to be well and truly up for the match. Marist hit the ground running though and played exceptionally well in the first half, putting us under pressure for periods of time, but some resolute defending and poor finishing on their part saw us through the first half unscathed. We looked good at times in the first half, but struggled to really settle into the pattern play and passing game that we have had success with in pre-season. The second half saw us begin to take the game to Marist and as we grew in confidence, we created some good, clear-cut opportunities that on another day, we may well have put away. Our boys really worked hard and grafted out a result that we can be pleased with. Marist have been touted as the team to beat this season in our league, but with the bottle our lads showed on Saturday and a bit more fine tuning, I'm sure Brooklyn will be challenging for that mantle.
