BNU remits for Capital Football AGM

Feedback from other clubs highlighted a number of issues with women’s leagues outside those addressed in our remit. In repsonse, BNU amended its remit to enable these to be considered. A stable and well-functioning league is important for the development of women’s game and it would be a pity to limit the potential for positive change by addressing issues in isolation.

BNU amended remit about the women’s league are:

  1. Capital Football in consultation with female players, the coaches and administrators involved with women’s teams, and with clubs identify and document league-related issues.
  2. Capital Football investigate league structures in other regions and other codes and put together a set of league options for clubs to consider by September 2009. This should include a detailed description of each option and a strengths/weakness analysis. Options need to address the identified issues and the unique needs of women’s game.
  3. A preferred option is approved at the women’s end of year meetings for implementation in 2010.
  4. Appropriate regulations are developed for the new league structure by the start of the 2010 season. These should acknowledge the needs of the women’s game and, at least, address competition criteria, playing standards, and rules governing promotion and relegation.
