2nd team show that they’re up for the challenge.

Seeing the sun shining and hardly a breath of wind on the harbour from my perch in Brooklyn, I knew that today would be a great day - just as all days where you beat Miramar are!!!

After a typically BNU start, where the team looks if it has speed wobbles by seeing their first touch fly 50 yards - saw the 2nds finally start to get the ball down on the deck and try to bring their fellow players into play.

After 30 mins, the mighty BNU had the game under control with a well constructed defence playing into their midfielder’s feet and looking to then move it wide. Finally we’re starting to see football being played in 3 parts of the park! This was shown when Dave was selected to play up front and ran on to an angled ball and calmly took pace with his head and rounded the keeper to make it one nil to BNU! No one looked more shocked than the man of the moment, Dave himself!

Sandy played with typical composure at the back and on a few occasions creating space for Simon to move down the flank with good opening out of play and have a couple of long range chances just go wide.

Reuben played commandingly in a deep central midfield role, which allowed Lee to push further into attack, which mustn’t have been welcomed by the amount of complaining and arguing amongst the Blue and black midfield of Miramar as they descended into a mob of balding men trying to outshout each other for the ref’s protection against a BNU team who were starting to realise that the all important 3 points was as good as won! Mehmet had a good first half by being a dominating outlet up front and looks a good asset when he plays simple, 2 touch football.

Miramar showed a great ability to complain but not much else, as their game turned from bad to worse. They fought back well into the 2nd half when Brooklyn closed rank and file and held on for an essential 1- 0 win, which may well be the turning point this season.

With the first team still leaking points, surely the question must be asked - When’s that oval shaped world cup start again?
