The results haven’t been that flash but the weather continues to be.  Another cracking day for football had a reasonable crowd turn up to hopefully see BNU get their season on track.  Wakefield number two was looking it usual lumpy self as the two bottom placed sides in the league faced up.

This week saw a couple more new faces with David Herman returning from a two year sojourn of periodic Central League football at Miramar to help out at the back.  Dave Hughes took over the right back slot while Matt D and Chris S formed what most be the hardest tackling central defensive duo in the league.  This rigidity and stubbornness continued through to the midfield which saw the three core players in the engine room sporting ginger locks.

Our movie this time is every Leo DiCaprio fan’s favourite, ‘Titanic’.  You know in the back of your head how its going to end but you hope against hope that you’ll get it wrong and everyone will be alright.

Brooklyn bore other similarities to the Titanic.  Looking at most of the side put out for this match you would have assumed that BNU would have been hard to break down, especially for a side such as KCU with the same goals for column as Brooklyn with one.  And for the first hour of the match this was indeed true.

While BNU didn’t look much like scoring the possibility they might concede a goal seemed equally unlikely.  Unfortunately this confidence was misplaced as Brooklyn conspired to hand KCU the lead through a communication breakdown at the back.  BNU changes came thick and fast after this setback but there was still very little attacking threat posed by the home side.  It still came as a little bit of a shock though when KCU extended their lead through a well finished shot from 20 yards.

Four games in and still no points on the board.  Looking ahead it doesn’t get any easier with third placed Island Bay the visitors next week.
